NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR THE ANDERSON CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU

Innovate Anderson announces that Kathy Benson has been promoted to Executive Director of the Anderson Convention & Visitors Bureau. She will be replacing Glenn Brill who left the CVB last month and is now the Director of the Anderson County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Division. Benson will oversee all functions of the CVB. She was previously Sales Manager for the CVB. Mike Panasko, President, of Innovate Anderson stated, “Kathy has done a great job as our Sales Manager- we think she’ll do an even better job as the Executive Director. We look forward to having her continue the success of the CVB. Her enthusiasm for this community, experience in this field, and understanding of our CVB made her the obvious choice.” “It was a wonderful experience to have been a part of the Convention &Visitors Bureau under the direction of Glenn Brill and I look forward to continuing the important work of promoting Anderson as a destination for Tourists, Conventions, Sporting Events and more. As always our goal is to put “Heads in Beds”, stated Benson. “I look forward to working with all of Anderson County and its elected officials to further tourism in Anderson County”. “Innovate Anderson is confident that Kathy will continue the success of the CVB in promoting and developing tourism in Anderson County. She has over 16 years of experience in the hospitality/tourism industry”, stated Charlie Thornton, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Innovate Anderson. Benson is a member of Meeting Professionals International, South Carolina Society of Association Executives, South Carolina Motor Coach Association and the Religious Conference Management Association. She lives in Anderson with her husband and three children.
